JIM
GIBSON
Jim Gibson took over as head coach of the VMI wrestling program in March 2018.
Gibson and company produced seven victories and two league wins in 2024-25, including 188 bout victories with 37 major decisions, 26 technical falls, and 43 falls for a total of 345 dual points. The Keydets had two SoCon weekly award winners and two podium finishes at the league championships where the Keydets took seventh place.
In 2023-24, Gibson led the Keydets to nine wins for the second-straight season, earning the most wins in a single season since the 2001-02 campaign. VMI recorded a pair of SoCon victories over Bellarmine and Presbyterian, en route to a seventh-place finish at the SoCon Championships.

RYAN
HUNSBERGER
Ryan Hunsberger finished his third year in 2022-23 as an assistant coach for the VMI wrestling program.
Ryan was the founder and head coach of the Viking Wrestling Club in Woodbridge, Va. The club helps build upon mental awareness, student-athlete development, and character building on and off the mat. Hunsberger ran practices, clinics, camps, National Team events, recruiting, revenue tracking and fundraisers. He coached, mentored, and recruited seven high-school All-Americans, 15 state champions, seven state finalists and over 30 college wrestlers. He independently trained 11 Division I wrestlers and two Division I NCAA Qualifiers.

Joe
Salinetro
Joe Salinetro comes to Lexington Wrestling Club after 3 successful years leading New Kent High School and New Kent Wrestling Club which he founded.
While at New Kent he helped lead the high school team to back to back 3A team runner up finishes and a fourth place finish. He also coached 4 state champions, 2 NHSCA All-Americans, a Beast of the East champion, and 15 state placers. He also served as a National Team coach for Team Virginia.
